Head-to-head comparisons: Mihon vs Tachiyomi, SY, Aniyomi and Doki, the best Android manga readers, and manga server software compared.
Short answer: run Suwayomi if you want the Mihon/Tachiyomi extension ecosystem on a server; run Kavita if you want one polished server for a big local library of manga, books and comics; run Komga if your collection is local comics/manga files and you want a focused server with excellent OPDS support. They solve different problems…
Short answer: they are not substitutes. Official apps (MANGA Plus, VIZ/Shonen Jump, BookWalker, Azuki, Manga UP!) license series and pay the industry; each covers only its own catalog. Mihon is a reader shell that organizes your library — local files and sources you add — with tracking and backups no single official app matches. Most…
Short answer: for most people the best manga reader on Android in 2026 is Mihon — Tachiyomi’s maintained successor. Power users graduate to TachiyomiSY; interface fans pick TachiyomiJ2K; anime watchers pick Aniyomi; Kotatsu loyalists pick Doki. Pair any of them with the official apps (MANGA Plus, VIZ) for licensed series. Every app below is free….
Short answer: Mihon and Doki are not versions of each other. Mihon continues Tachiyomi: community extension repositories, .tachibk backups, and the largest support ecosystem. Doki continues Kotatsu — an independent reader with its own built-in source-parser approach — after the Kotatsu repository was archived. Pick Mihon for ecosystem and migration tooling; pick Doki if you…
Short answer: Mihon is a manga reader, full stop. Aniyomi is the same family formula plus anime: video extensions, episode tracking and a player in the same app. If you only read, Mihon is leaner and updated first; if your AniList has as much anime as manga, Aniyomi consolidates two apps into one. Mihon Aniyomi…
Short answer: TachiyomiSY is Mihon plus a power-user layer — recommendations, automatic webtoon detection, source categories, entry merging and more. Mihon is the reference app: simpler, and first to receive the main project’s fixes. They share repositories, extensions and backups, so switching between them is cheap; choose by appetite for features. Mihon TachiyomiSY Base The…
Short answer: Mihon is what Tachiyomi became. Same core team lineage, same library and backup format, same extension idea — but Mihon is maintained (v0.21.2, October 2026) and Tachiyomi stopped at v0.15.3 in January 2024. Switch if your device runs Android 8.0+; stay (for now) only if you are on Android 6/7 or a specific…
